Possible Causes
Clogged suction hose or inlet, Severely blocked filter or filter bag, Motor cooling passages obstructed, Failing motor armature drawing excessive current
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum and remove the battery pack before opening any covers.
- 1. Check for blockages: Disconnect the Festool suction hose from the inlet. Inspect the hose, inlet, and any connected tools for clogs (dust, chips, offcuts). Clear obstructions using a flexible rod or compressed air.
- 2. Inspect filter and filter bag: Open the container and remove the filter bag. If the Festool filter bag is overfilled or collapsed, replace it. Remove the main filter cartridge or flat filter and tap it gently outdoors to remove dust, or replace if heavily loaded.
- 3. Clean motor cooling vents: Inspect the motor housing vents and cooling air channels. Use compressed air to blow out dust from the motor cooling area, keeping the fan from overspinning by holding it gently with a non-metallic tool.
- 4. Test without hose: Reinstall a clean filter and bag, leave the hose disconnected, reinstall the battery, and run the vacuum. If E02 no longer appears, the issue was a restriction in the hose or connected tool.
- 5. Suspect motor overload: If E02 persists with a clean filter and no hose attached, the motor may be drawing excessive current due to worn bearings or a damaged armature. Stop using the unit and arrange service; continued use can damage the control electronics.
