Possible Causes
Incorrect auto-start configuration, Faulty auto-start input circuit, Damaged tool detection sensor, Firmware issue in control electronics
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before changing internal connections. When testing auto-start, ensure the connected tool is in good condition.
- 1. Verify mode selection: Confirm that the vacuum is set to the correct auto-start or Bluetooth mode as described in the Festool manual.
- 2. Test manual mode: Switch to manual ON mode. If the vacuum runs normally, the fault is limited to the auto-start logic.
- 3. Re-pair or reconfigure: If using Bluetooth auto-start, clear pairings and re-pair the tool module or remote. If using a wired trigger (on hybrid models), inspect the trigger input connector and cable.
- 4. Inspect auto-start circuitry: Open the housing and check the auto-start input components and wiring for damage or loose connectors.
- 5. Firmware / board replacement: If E18 persists after configuration checks, the auto-start logic on the control board may be faulty. Contact Festool service for firmware update or control board replacement.
