Possible Causes
Brush roll jammed with hair or fibers, Foreign object stuck in floor nozzle, Worn brush roll end bearings, Failing brush roll motor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch off the vacuum and remove the battery. Detach the motorized floor head from the wand.
- Remove the brush roll: Open the bottom plate or side cover of the floor head (usually with a coin or screwdriver). Slide out the brush bar.
- Clear obstructions: Cut away hair, threads, and fibers from the bristles and especially from the ends near the bearings. Remove any objects lodged in the nozzle air path.
- Check brush bearings: Spin the brush roll by hand. It should rotate freely. If it feels rough, seized, or wobbly, the bearings or end caps may need replacement.
- Inspect the drive system: On belt-driven heads, check the belt for cracks, stretching, or breakage. On direct-drive heads, inspect the gear interface for damage.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the brush roll and bottom plate. Reattach the head and test. If E3 returns immediately and the brush does not move, the brush roll motor or its internal PCB may be defective and the entire floor head assembly may need replacement.
