Possible Causes

Shorted cell group inside battery, Internal battery management system (BMS) fault, Motor drawing excessive current due to blockage, Partially seized brush bar increasing load

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery before inspecting the floor head or brush bar. Keep fingers away from the brush while testing.

Steps to try:

  • Check for blockages: Remove the bin and extension tube. Look through the airway from the handle to the floor head. Clear any compacted debris using a long, non‑metallic tool.
  • Inspect brush bar: Remove the Gtech brush bar (usually by unlocking the end cap). Cut away hair, string, and threads with scissors, avoiding the bristles. Ensure the bar spins freely by hand.
  • Test without floor head: Fit the battery and run the vacuum with the floor head removed. If it runs normally, the floor head or brush bar is the source of overcurrent.
  • Swap battery if available: If you have another compatible Gtech battery, test with it. If the error disappears, the original battery pack is faulty.
  • Replace parts as needed: Replace the brush bar or complete motorised floor head if it remains stiff. Replace the battery pack if overcurrent persists with a free‑spinning brush and clear airway.
