Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack and disconnect the floor head before working on the brushroll.
Steps to restore brushroll drive:
- 1. Open floor head: Remove the brushroll access cover and lift out the brush bar.
- 2. Inspect belt (if fitted): On belt-driven Hoover Candy heads, check the belt for cracks, glazing, or stretching. Replace if loose or broken.
- 3. Check end bearings: Spin the brushroll by hand. If it feels rough or seized, replace the brushroll assembly.
- 4. Inspect internal gears and wiring: If accessible, check the small gear on the motor and the mating gear on the brushroll for wear. Ensure the motor's wiring connector is firmly seated.
If the brushroll still does not spin after mechanical parts are replaced, the brushroll motor itself may be faulty and the entire motorized head should be replaced.
