Possible Causes

Blocked floor nozzle, Clogged main airflow path, Seized brushroll bearings, Shorted main motor in handheld unit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery pack before inspecting the nozzle or motor area. Keep fingers away from the brushroll while reconnecting power.

Steps to clear overload:

  • 1. Check for blockages: Detach the wand and floor nozzle from the handheld unit. Look through the wand tube and nozzle neck for clogs (hair, dust bunnies, small toys). Remove any obstruction using a long, non-metallic tool.
  • 2. Inspect the brushroll: Remove the brushroll access cover on the Hoover Candy motorized floor head. Lift out the brush bar and cut away hair, threads, and fibers from both the bristles and the end caps. Ensure the brushroll spins freely by hand.
  • 3. Clean filters: Remove the pre-motor filter and HEPA or exhaust filter from the dust container assembly. Tap gently over a bin to remove dust. If washable, rinse with cold water only and allow to dry completely (at least 24 hours) before refitting.
  • 4. Test without nozzle: Refit the battery and run the handheld unit alone (no wand, no floor head). If it runs normally without cutting out, the fault is in the floor nozzle or wand. If it still cuts out, the main motor may be drawing excessive current.
  • 5. Inspect motorized head wiring: On models with powered brushrolls, check the electrical contacts between the wand and floor head for bent or burnt pins. Clean gently with a dry cloth.

When to replace parts: If the brushroll bearings feel rough or seized, replace the complete Hoover Candy motorized floor nozzle or brushroll assembly. If the handheld unit still trips E2 with all accessories removed and clean filters, the main suction motor is likely failing and should be replaced by a technician.
