Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack and allow the vacuum to cool for at least 30 minutes before further inspection.
Steps to address overheating:
- 1. Let the unit cool: Place the handheld unit in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight until it is at room temperature.
- 2. Clean all filters: Remove and clean the pre-motor and HEPA/exhaust filters as per the user manual. Ensure they are completely dry before refitting.
- 3. Clear airflow paths: Check the dust container, cyclone shroud, wand, and nozzle for any obstructions. Even partial blockages can cause overheating.
- 4. Inspect cooling vents: Examine the air intake and exhaust vents on the handheld body. Use a soft brush to remove dust buildup from the grilles.
- 5. Test in low power mode: Reassemble the vacuum and run it on the lowest power setting. If it runs significantly longer without overheating, the high-power mode may be stressing a worn motor.
When to replace parts: If the vacuum continues to overheat quickly with clean filters and clear vents, the main suction motor or thermal sensor may be failing. In this case, the motor assembly should be replaced by a Hoover Candy service center.
