Possible Causes
Dirty filters saturated with fine dust, Pet hair and dander buildup, Overheated debris in brushroll, Mold growth in damp filters
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack. Avoid breathing in dust when cleaning filters.
Steps to remove odors:
- 1. Thoroughly clean filters: Tap out dust and wash washable filters with cold water only. Allow to dry completely for at least 24 hours.
- 2. Replace HEPA filter: If the HEPA or exhaust filter smells bad or is discolored, replace it with a new Hoover Candy filter.
- 3. Clean brushroll and nozzle: Remove hair and debris from the brushroll and wipe the inside of the nozzle with a slightly damp cloth (battery removed). Allow to dry fully.
- 4. Air out the unit: Leave the handheld unit and bin open in a dry, ventilated area for several hours.
Persistent burnt smells may indicate motor overheating and should be investigated by a technician.
