Cordless vacuum has very weak suction, but motor sounds normal

Possible Causes

Clogged pre-motor filter, Blocked cyclone shroud, Cracked dust bin or seals, Blocked wand or hose

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery before cleaning.

Steps:

  • Empty and clean bin: Remove and empty the dust container. Tap and brush the cyclone shroud to remove fine dust.
  • Clean filters: Remove pre-motor and post-motor filters. Tap off dust and wash if allowed. Dry completely for 24 hours before refitting.
  • Check for blockages: Inspect the wand, hose, and floorhead for obstructions. Clear any debris.
  • Inspect seals: Check rubber seals around the bin and cyclone for damage or misalignment. Replace the bin or seals if cracked or missing.

After reassembly, test suction at the handheld inlet without accessories. If strong there but weak at the floorhead, the issue is in the wand or head.
