Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch the vacuum OFF and remove the battery pack before working on the floorhead or brush bar.
Steps to clear overload:
- Remove the brush bar: On most Hoover cordless models (e.g., H-Free, H-Lab, H-Upright cordless), unlock the end cap or release latch on the motorised floorhead and slide the brush bar out.
- Clean the brush bar: Cut away hair, threads, and fibres with scissors, taking care not to cut the bristles. Remove any wrapped debris from both ends of the brush bar and the bearing areas.
- Check for obstructions: Inspect the floorhead air channel, the neck, and the wand for blockages (coins, Lego, large debris). Remove any obstructions.
- Spin test: Rotate the brush bar by hand. It should spin freely without grinding or tight spots. If it feels stiff, the end bearings may be worn or melted and the brush bar assembly should be replaced.
- Inspect the motorised head wiring: Check the cable and connector from the floorhead to the wand/handle for damage or bent pins. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Reset and test: Refit the brush bar, reinstall the battery, and run the vacuum on normal power. Avoid picking up large objects that can jam the brush.
If E2 persists: The main suction motor or the motorised floorhead motor may be drawing excessive current due to internal wear. In that case, replacement of the motor assembly or motorised floorhead is recommended by a qualified technician.
