Thermal Cut-Out / Overheating Protection
Cordless vacuum cuts out, red LED flashes three times repeatedly, often when using turbo/boost mode

Possible Causes
Blocked filters restricting airflow, Clogged cyclone assembly, Blocked wand or floor nozzle, Failing cooling fan or partially blocked motor cooling vents
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack and empty the dust container before servicing. Allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes if it feels hot.
Restore airflow:
- Empty the bin: Detach the dust canister and empty it completely. Tap gently to dislodge compacted dust from the cyclone shroud.
- Clean pre-motor filter: Locate the pre-motor filter (usually foam or fabric inside or above the dust bin). Remove it and tap it gently outdoors. If washable (check Hoover manual/label), rinse under lukewarm water until clear, then squeeze out excess water and allow to air dry for at least 24 hours before refitting.
- Clean HEPA/post-motor filter: If your Hoover cordless has a rear HEPA or post-motor filter, remove and tap off dust. Only wash if explicitly marked washable. Replace if heavily clogged or damaged.
- Check for blockages: Inspect the wand, flexible hose (if fitted), and floorhead for clogs. Use a broom handle or similar to gently push out any compacted debris.
- Inspect cooling vents: Look around the motor housing for cooling slots. Remove lint and dust with a soft brush or vacuum.
- Reassemble and test: Once all filters are completely dry, reassemble and test on normal power first. Avoid running continuously on turbo in very dusty conditions.
If E3 continues: The thermal sensor or main motor may be failing. Continued overheating can permanently damage the motor; seek professional service for motor or PCB replacement.
