Possible Causes

Dust container not seated correctly, Broken bin latch, Faulty bin presence microswitch, Debris preventing bin from locking fully

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery before adjusting the bin.

Steps:

  • Remove and refit bin: Detach the dust container completely, check for debris around the mounting rails and latch, then refit until it clicks firmly into place.
  • Inspect latch: Ensure the bin latch is not cracked or deformed. A loose latch may not actuate the internal microswitch.
  • Check bin door: Make sure the bottom flap is fully closed and latched; some models will not run if the flap is open.
  • Test switch action: While refitting the bin, listen/feel for a small click from the internal switch. If the bin is secure but F1 remains, the microswitch may be faulty.

Resolution: Replace the dust bin assembly or have the bin microswitch replaced by a technician if it is integrated into the main body.
