Possible Causes

Hair and fibres wrapped around brush bar, Foreign object jammed in floorhead, Worn brush bar end bearings, Faulty brush motor overload circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery and disconnect the floorhead.

Steps:

  • Remove brush bar: Unlock the end cap or release catch and slide the brush bar out.
  • Clear all debris: Cut away hair and threads from the bar and end caps. Remove any objects stuck in the floorhead housing.
  • Check bearings: Spin the brush bar by hand. If it feels rough or stiff, the bearings are likely worn; replace the brush bar assembly.
  • Inspect belt (if belt-driven): On some Hoover cordless heads, a small belt links the motor to the brush bar. Check for snapped or stretched belt and replace if needed.

Reset: Refit the brush bar, reinstall the battery, and test. If F4 returns with a clean, free-spinning brush, the brush motor or overload circuit in the floorhead may need replacement.
