Possible Causes
Blocked cooling vents around motor housing, Severely clogged HEPA exhaust filter, Running vacuum continuously on MAX mode for extended periods, Failing main motor with increased friction
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum, remove the battery, and allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before inspection.
- Step 1 – Check for blockages: Follow the airflow cleaning steps: empty dust cup, clean cyclone, check tube and floorhead for clogs.
- Step 2 – Inspect cooling vents: Locate the side and rear vents on the Jimmy handheld body. Use a soft brush or compressed air (short bursts) to remove dust buildup. Do not insert metal tools into vents.
- Step 3 – Clean exhaust HEPA filter: Remove the rear HEPA exhaust filter (often behind a grille). Tap gently to remove dust. If washable, rinse with cold water and let dry completely for 24 hours before reinstalling.
- Step 4 – Use appropriate power mode: Avoid running on MAX/Turbo continuously for long periods, especially on carpets. Use standard mode for regular cleaning.
- Step 5 – Evaluate motor condition: If E4 appears quickly even with clean filters and vents, the main motor assembly may be overheating due to internal wear. Replacement of the motor unit or complete handheld body is recommended by a qualified service center.
