Possible Causes
Battery pack too hot or too cold during charging, Failed temperature sensor (NTC) inside Jimmy battery pack, Faulty Jimmy charger or wall dock, Damaged battery pack cells
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not attempt to open the battery pack. Damaged lithium batteries can be hazardous.
- Step 1 – Normalize temperature: If the vacuum or battery feels hot after use, let it cool at room temperature (20–25°C) for at least 30 minutes before charging. Avoid charging in very cold garages or hot cars.
- Step 2 – Check charger and dock: Inspect the Jimmy charger and dock contacts for dirt or corrosion. Wipe with a dry cloth. Ensure the charger LED behaves normally (steady light for charging).
- Step 3 – Try a different outlet: Plug the charger into a known-good wall outlet without extension cords or power strips.
- Step 4 – Observe charging behavior: If E5 appears immediately when connecting the charger, the internal battery temperature sensor or BMS PCB may be faulty.
- Step 5 – Replace components: Test with a known-good Jimmy charger if available. If the issue persists, replace the Jimmy lithium battery pack. If multiple batteries show E5 on the same unit, the charging PCB in the dock or main body may need replacement by a technician.
