Possible Causes
Triggered tilt/impact sensor after a fall, Dislodged internal sensor module, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty main PCB sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before handling a vacuum that has been dropped.
- Step 1 – Inspect for physical damage: Check the Jimmy body, extension tube, and floorhead for cracks or misalignment. Do not use the vacuum if the battery casing is damaged.
- Step 2 – Reset the unit: Remove the battery for 5 minutes, then reinstall. Some models clear the E9 code after a power reset if no damage is detected.
- Step 3 – Gentle tap reset: With the battery removed, gently tap the side of the handheld body with your palm to reseat any stuck tilt sensor.
- Step 4 – Internal check (advanced): Open the body shell and locate the small tilt/impact sensor module on the PCB. Ensure it is not broken off and that its connector is secure.
- Step 5 – Replace PCB or sensor: If E9 remains and the vacuum appears intact, the tilt sensor or main control PCB must be replaced by a service technician.
