Possible Causes
Broken or stretched drive belt (if belt-driven), Stripped gear in Jimmy floorhead, Failed floorhead motor, Broken wire in extension tube
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum and remove the battery before working on the floorhead.
- Step 1 – Check for jams: Remove the floorhead and inspect the brushroll for hair and debris. Clear thoroughly.
- Step 2 – Spin brush manually: Try rotating the brushroll by hand. If it is stiff or locked, the bearings or gear may be seized.
- Step 3 – Inspect belt/gear: Open the floorhead cover and check the drive belt or gear train. Replace any broken or stretched belt or stripped gear.
- Step 4 – Test motor: With the floorhead open (and battery removed), check wiring continuity to the motor. If the motor is open-circuit or smells burnt, replace the motor or entire floorhead.
- Step 5 – Check tube wiring: If the floorhead works when directly connected to the handheld but not through the tube, replace the extension tube with wiring harness.
