Possible Causes
Blocked cooling vents around motor housing, Severely clogged pre‑filter restricting airflow, Faulty NTC temperature sensor on motor, Failing motor bearings causing overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery and allow the unit to cool for at least 20 minutes before working on it.
- Inspect air vents: Check all cooling slots around the motor housing and handle. Use a soft brush or compressed air (short bursts) to remove dust buildup.
- Clean pre‑filter and main filter: Remove the dust container. Take out the pre‑filter mesh and main HEPA/cartridge filter. Clean according to Kärcher instructions. Ensure filters are completely dry before reinstalling.
- Check for abnormal noise or heat: After cooling and cleaning, run the vacuum on low power. If the motor quickly becomes very hot or makes grinding noises, the bearings may be worn.
- Persistent E3: If E3 appears immediately after a cold start with clean filters, the motor temperature sensor (NTC) or the main control PCB is likely faulty. These are not user‑serviceable on most Kärcher cordless models; contact service.
