Possible Causes
Brushroll end bearings seized by hair, Foreign object stuck in floor head, Faulty brushroll motor, Damaged brushroll motor gearbox
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack before working on the floor head.
- Remove and inspect brushroll: Detach the floor head from the wand. Open the brushroll cover and remove the brushroll. Clear all hair and fibers from the bristles and especially from the end caps where they meet the housing.
- Check end caps and bearings: Spin each end of the brushroll with your fingers. It should rotate smoothly. If it feels gritty, stiff, or locked, the brushroll assembly should be replaced.
- Inspect floor head cavity: Look for coins, toys, or hard debris lodged near the brushroll or suction channel. Remove carefully.
- Check brushroll motor: With the brushroll removed and battery reinstalled, briefly power on the vacuum and select brush mode (if separate). Look into the floor head to see if the drive spindle turns. If it does not move or makes grinding noises, the brushroll motor/gearbox is likely faulty.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall the brushroll and cover, ensuring it is seated correctly. Test again. If E3 persists, replace the motorized floor head or have the brushroll motor assembly serviced.
