Possible Causes

Clogged pre‑motor filter, Blocked cyclone assembly, Restricted airflow in wand or floor head, Failing cooling fan on main motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum and remove the battery. Allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before further use.

  • Clean all filters: Remove the dust cup and take out the pre‑motor filter and HEPA/post‑motor filter (if accessible). Tap gently to remove dust. Wash foam or fabric filters with cold water only if Levoit specifies they are washable. Let them dry completely (minimum 24 hours) before reinstalling.
  • Inspect cyclone and dust cup: Empty the dust cup fully. Check the cyclone cone and mesh for fine dust buildup. Use a soft brush to clean the cyclone holes and mesh screen.
  • Check airflow path: Inspect the wand, floor head, and all air passages for clogs. Remove any debris.
  • Ventilation check: Inspect the motor housing vents on the main body. Clean any lint or dust blocking the vents with a soft brush or vacuum.
  • Test on low power first: Reassemble, reinstall the battery, and run the vacuum on low. If E4 no longer appears, gradually use higher power. If E4 returns quickly even with clean filters and clear airflow, the motor’s internal cooling or temperature sensor may be failing and the motor assembly should be replaced by a technician.
