Possible Causes
Internal battery cell degradation, Faulty BMS in battery, Defective charger delivering incorrect current, Charging in high ambient temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If the battery is too hot to comfortably touch, unplug the charger immediately and remove the battery from the stand if safe to do so. Do not continue using or charging a battery that overheats.
- 1. Allow cooling: Place the battery in a cool, non-flammable area away from direct sunlight until it reaches room temperature.
- 2. Check environment: Ensure the charging location is well-ventilated and not near heat sources.
- 3. Try another outlet and avoid extension cords: Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet.
- 4. If overheating recurs, replace the battery pack with a genuine LG unit. If the new battery also overheats, the charger or stand is defective and must be replaced.
