Possible Causes
Aged lithium-ion cells with high internal resistance, Battery management system (BMS) fault, Shorted motor drawing excessive current, Dirty or high-resistance battery contacts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Power off the unit and remove the battery. Do not continue to restart the vacuum repeatedly as this can stress the battery.
- 1. Inspect battery and contacts: Remove the battery pack and check for swelling, cracks, or discoloration. Clean the contacts on both the battery and vacuum handle with a dry cloth.
- 2. Reduce load test: Remove all attachments, including the motorized floor nozzle. Reinstall the battery and power on the main body only. If it stays on without shutting off, the issue is likely with the floor nozzle or brush motor.
- 3. Try a second battery: If your LG cordless vacuum came with a spare battery, install it and test. If the error disappears, replace the original battery pack.
- 4. Check for clogs: A severe blockage can cause the motor to draw excessive current. Detach the wand and nozzle, inspect for clogs in the wand, cyclone assembly, and inlet, and clear any obstructions.
- 5. If the unit shuts off even with a known-good battery and no attachments, the main motor or control PCB may be shorted. Discontinue use and contact LG service.
