Possible Causes
Brush bar jammed with hair or string, Brush nozzle bearings seized, Shorted brush motor in floor nozzle, Damaged brush nozzle wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery and detach the brush nozzle from the extension pipe or main body.
- Clear the brush bar: Turn the nozzle upside down. Remove any visible hair, string, or debris wrapped around the brush bar and end caps. Use scissors carefully to cut away tightly wound material.
- Check brush rotation: Spin the brush bar by hand. It should rotate freely with minimal resistance. If it feels rough or seized, the bearings or end caps may be damaged.
- Inspect for obstructions: Look inside the nozzle’s air path for large debris that could be jamming the brush or restricting airflow.
- Reconnect and test: Reattach the nozzle, reinstall the battery, and briefly test. If E7 returns immediately, disconnect and stop using the nozzle.
- If jam persists or motor is shorted: Replace the complete brush nozzle assembly. On some Makita models, the brush motor is not serviceable separately.
