Possible Causes

Faulty mode selector switch, Broken internal linkage, Dirty or oxidized contacts, Control PCB not responding to mode input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery.

  • Cycle the switch: Move the mode selector through all positions 20–30 times to help clean internal contacts.
  • Observe LED indicators: Reinstall the battery and change modes while watching the LEDs. If the LEDs change but suction does not, the control PCB or motor drive may be faulty.
  • If switch feels loose or does not click: The mechanical parts of the switch may be broken and require replacement.
  • Service recommendation: Replacement of the mode selector switch or control PCB should be done by a Makita service center.
