Makita Low Suction / Airflow Loss

Vacuum runs but suction is very weak even with a fully charged battery.

Possible Causes

Clogged extension pipe, Blocked floor nozzle, Torn or mis-seated dust cup gasket, Severely clogged filters

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery before disassembly.

  • Check for clogs: Detach the extension pipe and floor nozzle. Look through them against a light source. Use a flexible brush or another vacuum to clear any obstructions.
  • Inspect dust cup and seals: Remove the dust cup and check the rubber gasket where it meets the main body. Ensure it is clean, not twisted, and not torn. Replace if damaged.
  • Clean or replace filters: Remove pre-filter and main filter. Tap out dust and wash if allowed. If filters remain discolored or airflow is still poor, replace them with genuine Makita filters.
  • Test without accessories: Run the vacuum with only the main body and dust cup attached. If suction is strong at the intake, the issue is in the pipe or nozzle. If still weak, internal leaks or motor wear may be present.
