Possible Causes
Blocked brush roll, Clogged main air path, Seized motor bearings, Shorted motor windings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove the battery pack before inspecting the floor head or motor area.
- Check brush roll: Remove the floor nozzle from the wand. Open the brush roll cover (usually a latch or a few screws). Remove hair, threads, and debris wrapped around the brush and end caps. Ensure the brush roll spins freely by hand.
- Inspect air path: Detach the dust bin and filters. Look through the suction path from the nozzle to the cyclone inlet. Remove any blockages such as large debris, paper, or pet hair clumps.
- Clean filters: Wash the pre-motor filter (if washable) with lukewarm water and let it dry completely (at least 24 hours). Tap out dust from the cyclone and HEPA filter as per Medion’s manual.
- Test motor: Reassemble without the brush head (run the motor with just the main body). If E3 still appears and the motor stops quickly, the motor may be drawing too much current due to internal damage.
- Do not bypass protection: If the motor is noisy, smells burnt, or will not spin freely, replace the motor assembly rather than trying to bypass safety circuits.
