Possible Causes
Blocked air filters, Clogged cyclone assembly in dust container, Restricted cooling vents on motor unit, Failing motor temperature sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum, remove the battery, and allow the unit to cool for at least 30 minutes before further use.
- 1. Let the unit cool: Place the vacuum in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. Do not cover the motor housing.
- 2. Empty the dust container: Remove and empty the dust bin. Check the cyclone assembly for compacted dust. Use a soft brush to loosen and remove fine dust from the cyclone cones.
- 3. Clean or replace filters: Remove the pre-motor and exhaust (HEPA or fine dust) filters. Tap off loose dust. If your Miele model uses washable filters, rinse as per the user manual and dry completely. Replace filters that are heavily soiled or past their recommended service life.
- 4. Inspect cooling vents: Check the motor housing and battery area for blocked vents. Remove lint and dust with a soft brush or vacuum.
- 5. Test on lower power: Reassemble and run the vacuum on a medium setting. If F3 no longer appears, avoid prolonged use at maximum power with full filters.
- 6. If F3 recurs quickly: The motor temperature sensor or motor windings may be faulty. Professional diagnosis and motor unit replacement by a Miele technician is recommended.
