Possible Causes

Hair or string wrapped around brush roller, Foreign object jammed in floorhead, Worn brush bearings, Failing Electrobrush motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch OFF the vacuum, remove the battery, and detach the Electrobrush before working on the brush roller.

  • 1. Remove the brush roller: On most Miele Electrobrushes, a locking cap or release lever allows the roller to be removed. Follow the markings on the floorhead.
  • 2. Clear hair and debris: Use scissors to cut along the grooves in the roller and pull away hair, threads, and fibers. Check both ends of the roller for wrapped debris.
  • 3. Inspect bearings: Rotate the roller by hand. It should spin freely without grinding. If it feels stiff or noisy, the roller assembly may need replacement.
  • 4. Check the air channel: Look inside the floorhead for coins, toys, or other objects blocking the airflow or impeding the roller.
  • 5. Reassemble and test: Refit the roller and lock it in place. Reattach the Electrobrush and test. If F9 no longer appears, the jam was resolved.
  • 6. Persistent F9 with free-spinning roller: The Electrobrush motor or overload sensor is likely faulty. Replace the Electrobrush assembly or have it serviced by Miele.
