Possible Causes
Dry indoor air, Synthetic carpets, Non-conductive floorhead bristles, Lack of grounding path
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: These are usually low-energy static shocks, but if you feel strong shocks or see sparks, stop using and consult a technician.
- 1. Increase humidity: Use a humidifier in very dry environments to reduce static build-up.
- 2. Change footwear or surface: Avoid insulating footwear (e.g. rubber soles) on synthetic carpets while vacuuming.
- 3. Use appropriate floorhead: Some Miele floorheads are designed to reduce static. Consult your manual for recommended accessories.
- 4. If shocks are strong or accompanied by burning smell: Stop using the vacuum and contact Miele service to rule out electrical faults.
