Possible Causes
Faulty trigger switch in handle, Broken wire between battery contacts and control PCB, Blown internal fuse or thermal link, Failed control PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before opening any housings. Do not bypass fuses with wire or foil.
- 1. Verify battery: Test the battery on another Milwaukee M18 tool to confirm it powers other tools.
- 2. Inspect battery fit: Ensure the pack fully latches into the vacuum. Listen for the click of the latch and tug gently to confirm it is seated.
- 3. Check trigger action: Squeeze the trigger and feel for a positive click. A loose or mushy trigger may indicate a broken switch.
- 4. Open handle (if out of warranty): Remove screws from the handle housing, separate halves, and inspect the trigger switch and wiring harness for loose connectors or broken solder joints.
- 5. Replace defective parts: If the trigger switch tests open with a multimeter when pressed, replace the trigger switch. If wiring is intact but no power passes through the PCB, replace the control PCB.
- 6. If under warranty: Do not open the housing; contact Milwaukee service for repair or replacement.
