Intermittent Electrical Connection
Cordless vacuum intermittently cuts out when moving the wand or twisting the handle
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Loose wiring in wand-to-floorhead connector, Worn contacts at wand/handheld joint, Broken conductor inside flexible cable, Cracked PCB in floorhead neck
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before inspecting connectors.
- Wiggle test: With the vacuum running (battery refitted), gently move the wand and floorhead joint. If the motor or brush cuts out, there is a connection issue.
- Inspect connectors: Remove the wand and check the electrical pins for bending or wear. Clean with a dry cloth.
- Try direct connection: If possible, connect the floorhead directly to the handheld (without the wand). If the issue disappears, the wand wiring is faulty and the wand should be replaced.
- Replace faulty section: Replace the wand or floorhead assembly depending on where the intermittent connection is located.
