Possible Causes
Dust bin not fully latched, Broken bin latch tab, Faulty bin presence microswitch, Misaligned bin causing air leak at seal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before removing the dust bin.
- Remove and refit bin: Detach the dust bin completely and then refit it, ensuring it clicks firmly into place and the latch engages.
- Inspect latch and hooks: Check the plastic hooks and latch on the bin and main body for cracks or wear. A damaged latch may prevent the bin from activating the presence switch.
- Check bin seal: Inspect the rubber seal between the bin and main body. If it is twisted or out of place, reseat it.
- Test with gentle pressure: With the bin fitted, gently press it towards the body while trying to start the vacuum. If it works only when pressed, the latch or bin switch needs adjustment or replacement.
- Replace bin or switch: If the bin is damaged, replace the dust bin assembly. If the switch is faulty, the main body must be opened and the bin presence switch replaced by a technician.
