Possible Causes
Hair and fibres wrapped around brush bar ends, Jammed brush bar bearings, Failed brush roll motor in floorhead, Damaged wiring loom between handheld and floorhead
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery pack and disconnect the floorhead before working on the brush bar.
- Remove brush bar: Unlock the brush bar using the side cap or release latch. Slide the brush bar out of the floorhead.
- Clear obstructions: Cut away hair, threads, and fibres from the bristles and especially from the end caps where they sit in the bearings.
- Check rotation: Spin the brush bar by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If it is stiff or seized, the bearings or end caps may be damaged and the brush bar should be replaced.
- Inspect drive system: On belt-driven heads, check the drive belt for breakage or slipping. On direct-drive heads, check for debris around the small motor spindle.
- Check electrical contacts: Inspect the electrical pins on the neck of the floorhead and the mating contacts on the wand/handheld for bent or burnt pins. Clean gently with a dry cloth.
- Test without load: Refit the battery, connect the floorhead, and briefly run the vacuum while lifting the head off the floor. If the brush still does not spin and E4 reappears, the brush motor or floorhead PCB is likely faulty and the entire motorised floorhead assembly should be replaced.
