Possible Causes

Defective main control PCB, Failed power button switch, Internal battery protection fuse open, Damaged DC power input circuitry

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the charger from the wall and disconnect the vacuum from any power source before opening any covers. Do not short battery terminals.

  • Step 1 – Check charger and outlet: Plug another device into the same outlet to confirm power. Inspect the Neato charger brick and cable for cuts, burn marks, or loose connectors. Try a different compatible Neato charger if available.
  • Step 2 – Inspect charging port: Examine the vacuum's DC charging jack for bent pins, debris, or looseness. Clean gently with a dry brush and compressed air. Do not use liquids.
  • Step 3 – Force reset: With the unit off the charger, press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds to reset the control board. Then place it on the charger for at least 30 minutes and try powering on again.
  • Step 4 – Open housing (advanced): Remove screws from the handle and body shell. Carefully separate the halves to access the main PCB. Look for burnt components, cracked solder joints at the power button, or a blown onboard fuse (often a small surface-mount fuse near the battery connector). Only proceed if you are comfortable with electronics.
  • Step 5 – Test continuity: Using a multimeter, verify continuity across the power button switch and the battery protection fuse. If the button is open when pressed, or the fuse is open, replace the faulty component or the entire main control board assembly.
  • When to stop: If you see burnt traces or smell burnt electronics, or if replacing the charger and confirming the outlet does not restore power, the main control PCB likely needs replacement and professional service is recommended.
