Error 0003
Neato
Battery Pack Capacity Loss or BMS Fault
Vacuum runs for only a few seconds then stops with a low-battery style error even after full charge

Possible Causes
Degraded lithium-ion battery cells, Faulty battery management system (BMS) board inside pack, Poor battery connector contact, Corroded battery terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Lithium-ion batteries can be hazardous if punctured or shorted. Do not open the battery pack casing. Work on a non-conductive surface.
- Step 1 – Confirm full charge: Place the vacuum on the charger until the charge indicator shows full (steady light). Leave it an extra 30–60 minutes to top off.
- Step 2 – Soft reset: Remove the vacuum from the charger, power it off, then hold the power button for 15–20 seconds. Power it back on and test again.
- Step 3 – Inspect battery contacts: Remove the battery compartment cover (usually under the main body). Gently pull out the battery pack. Inspect the metal contacts on both the pack and the vacuum for oxidation or discoloration. Clean with a dry cloth or a pencil eraser; avoid liquids.
- Step 4 – Reseat or replace battery: Firmly reseat the battery pack, ensuring the connector is fully engaged. If the runtime is still only a few seconds or minutes, the pack is likely at end-of-life. Replace with a genuine Neato-compatible lithium-ion battery pack of the same voltage and capacity.
- Step 5 – Check for heat: If the vacuum or battery becomes unusually hot within seconds of use, stop immediately. This indicates internal cell or BMS failure; do not continue using the pack. Replace the battery and recycle the old one according to local regulations.
