Possible Causes

Defective Neato charger brick, Open circuit in DC charging jack, Failed charge controller IC on main PCB, Broken internal charge wiring harness

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the charger before inspecting cables. Do not attempt to open the charger brick.

  • Step 1 – Verify outlet and charger: Test the wall outlet with another device. If OK, inspect the Neato charger cable for kinks, cuts, or bent connectors. Try a known-good compatible Neato charger if available.
  • Step 2 – Check charging jack: Inspect the vacuum's DC jack for looseness or movement when the plug is inserted. A loose jack can break solder joints on the PCB. Gently wiggle the plug while watching the charge light; intermittent lighting indicates a bad jack.
  • Step 3 – Clean contacts: If your model uses contact pads instead of a jack, wipe the contacts on both the vacuum and dock with a dry cloth. Remove any oxidation with a soft pencil eraser.
  • Step 4 – Measure charger output (advanced): Using a multimeter set to DC volts, measure the output of the charger. Compare to the rating on the label (typically around 20–26 V DC). If there is no output or it is far below spec, replace the charger.
  • Step 5 – Inspect internal charge wiring: If the charger is good, open the vacuum housing and trace the wires from the charging jack or contacts to the main PCB and battery. Look for broken solder joints, loose connectors, or burnt components near the charge controller area. Repair broken joints or replace the main control PCB if damage is visible.
