Possible Causes

Cracked motor housing, Loose motor seal, Broken or worn impeller blades, Misaligned cyclone-to-motor gasket

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect from charger and power off. Avoid touching the impeller while it is spinning.

  • Step 1 – Check external seals: Ensure the dust bin and filters are installed correctly and that all external seals are intact.
  • Step 2 – Access motor housing: Open the vacuum body to reach the motor compartment. Inspect the rubber gasket between the cyclone outlet and motor inlet for damage or misalignment.
  • Step 3 – Inspect impeller: If accessible, visually inspect the impeller for broken or missing blades and debris lodged between them. Do not bend the blades.
  • Step 4 – Check housing for cracks: Look for cracks in the plastic motor housing that could cause air leaks. Small cracks may be temporarily sealed with high-temperature epoxy, but replacement of the housing or motor assembly is preferred.
  • Step 5 – Replace motor assembly: If the impeller is damaged or the housing is severely cracked, replace the entire motor assembly with a Neato-compatible unit.
