Possible Causes
Low humidity environment, Synthetic carpet fibers, Lack of grounding path in design, Dust buildup on plastic surfaces
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Small static shocks are usually not dangerous but can be uncomfortable. If you see large sparks or smell burning, stop use immediately.
- Step 1 – Increase humidity: Use a humidifier in very dry environments to reduce static buildup.
- Step 2 – Clean plastics: Wipe the exterior plastic surfaces and floor head with a slightly damp cloth (vacuum unplugged) and dry thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Footwear and contact: Wear shoes with conductive soles and periodically touch a grounded metal object to discharge static.
- Step 4 – Inspect for arcing: If sparks appear inside the head or body rather than between the vacuum and you, stop using the vacuum and inspect for electrical shorts or damaged wiring.
