Possible Causes

Clogged filters restricting airflow, Blocked cooling vents around motor, Overloaded motor from heavy debris, Failing motor bearings causing overheating

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Remove the battery and wait at least 15–20 minutes to allow the battery and motor to cool before further checks.

  • Clean filters: Remove the pre-motor and exhaust filters as per the Numatic manual. Tap gently to remove loose dust. If washable, rinse with cold water only and allow to dry completely (24 hours) before refitting. Never refit damp filters.
  • Check air paths: Inspect the hose, wand, and floor head for blockages. Even partial clogs can cause the motor to overheat.
  • Inspect cooling vents: Look for dust build-up around the motor housing vents on the vacuum body. Use a soft brush or dry cloth to clear them.
  • Test on low power first: After cooling and cleaning, refit the battery and run the vacuum on the lowest power setting. If it runs normally on low but overheats quickly on high, the motor may be wearing out.

If the over-temperature indication persists after thorough cleaning and cooling, the motor or battery temperature sensor may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
