Possible Causes
Broken wire inside wand, Loose wand connector pins, Cracked swivel neck joint, Intermittent contact between body and nozzle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery before working on the wand or neck assembly.
- Step 1 – Recreate the fault: With the vacuum assembled (but powered off), gently move the wand and nozzle through their full range of motion. Feel for looseness or clicking that suggests a broken joint.
- Step 2 – Inspect connectors: Detach the wand from the main body and nozzle. Check the electrical contacts at both ends for bent pins or corrosion. Clean with a dry cloth.
- Step 3 – Continuity test (advanced): Use a multimeter to check continuity of each conductor from one end of the wand to the other while flexing it slightly. If continuity drops out, the internal cable is broken.
- Step 4 – Replace wand or neck assembly: If the internal wiring is faulty or the swivel joint is cracked, replace the complete wand or neck assembly with the correct Princess spare part.
- Step 5 – Reassemble and test: Refit all parts, insert the battery, and test while moving the wand. If E17 persists, the body or nozzle connector may also need replacement.
