Possible Causes
Blocked floor nozzle or wand, Severely clogged cyclone assembly, Stuck brushroll causing high current draw, Failing main motor in motorhead or body
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Switch off the vacuum and remove the battery before inspecting the nozzle or brushroll. Keep fingers away from moving parts.
- Step 1 – Check for blockages: Detach the wand and floor nozzle from the main body. Look through the wand tube and suction inlet for clogs (hair, dust bunnies, plastic). Remove obstructions with a long brush or flexible rod.
- Step 2 – Clean the brushroll: Open the Princess floor nozzle (usually via a coin‑slot or side latch). Remove the brushroll. Cut away hair and threads with scissors, avoiding the bristles. Spin the brushroll by hand; it should rotate freely without grinding.
- Step 3 – Inspect the nozzle air path: Check the internal air channels of the motorized head for compacted debris. Tap gently and vacuum out with another vacuum if needed.
- Step 4 – Clean filters and cyclone: Remove the pre‑motor filter and cyclone assembly. Empty the dust bin and rinse washable filters with lukewarm water only. Allow at least 24 hours to dry completely before refitting.
- Step 5 – Test without nozzle: Reinstall the battery and run the vacuum with only the main body (no wand, no nozzle). If it runs normally, the issue is in the nozzle or wand. If it still shuts off, the main motor or control PCB may be failing.
- Step 6 – Replace faulty parts: If the brushroll bearings are seized or the nozzle motor smells burnt, replace the complete motorized floor nozzle or brushroll assembly. If the main body cuts out with no attachments, the main motor assembly or control PCB should be replaced by a technician.
