Possible Causes

Hair or string wrapped around brushroll, Foreign object jammed in nozzle, Worn brushroll end bearings, Failed nozzle motor or internal belt (if belt‑driven design)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Switch off the vacuum and remove the battery before working on the floor nozzle. Do not touch the brushroll while the unit is powered.

  • Step 1 – Remove the nozzle: Detach the motorized floor head from the wand and main body.
  • Step 2 – Open the brushroll compartment: Use the release latch or coin‑slot screws to open the bottom plate. Lift out the brushroll.
  • Step 3 – Clear jams: Cut away hair, threads, and fibers from the brushroll and end caps. Check for small objects (toys, stones) lodged in the air path or near the brushroll.
  • Step 4 – Check brushroll bearings: Spin each end of the brushroll by hand. If it feels rough, seized, or wobbly, replace the brushroll assembly with a compatible Princess brushroll for your model.
  • Step 5 – Inspect nozzle motor and belt (if present): Look for a broken or slipped belt between the motor and brushroll (some Princess models use direct‑drive, others belt‑drive). Replace the belt if cracked or stretched. If the motor smells burnt or does not turn even when powered, the nozzle motor assembly must be replaced.
  • Step 6 – Reassemble and test: Refit the brushroll and bottom plate. Reattach the nozzle, insert the battery, and test on a hard floor. If the E4 or red light persists with a free‑spinning brushroll, the nozzle PCB or hall sensor may be defective and should be serviced.
