Vacuum stops suddenly during use, body becomes warm, and an E5 or overheat icon appears. After cooling, it runs again briefly.

Safety first: Remove the battery and allow the vacuum to cool for at least 30 minutes before inspection. Do not cover the vacuum while it is hot.

• Step 1 – Clean all filters: Remove the dust bin, pre‑motor filter, and HEPA exhaust filter. Empty the bin and wash washable filters with lukewarm water. Let them dry completely (24 hours) before reinstalling.
• Step 2 – Check for airflow obstructions: Inspect the wand, nozzle, and suction inlet for clogs. Remove any debris that could restrict airflow.
• Step 3 – Inspect motor vents: Look at the air intake and exhaust vents on the main body. Use a soft brush or compressed air (short bursts) to remove dust from grills and around the motor housing.
• Step 4 – Test run without attachments: With clean filters and no nozzle or wand attached, run the vacuum on low power. If it still overheats quickly, the internal cooling fan or motor windings may be failing.
• Step 5 – Service or replace motor assembly: If overheating persists, the main motor assembly (including cooling fan) or the thermal sensor on the motor is likely defective. These parts are usually not user‑serviceable; contact a Princess service center or replace the main motor unit if sold as a module.
