Possible Causes
Partially jammed brush roll, Worn brush motor bearings, Debris in brush motor gearbox, Failing brush motor driver on nozzle PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Remove the battery and disconnect the floor nozzle before servicing.
- Deep clean the brush roll: Remove the brush roll and thoroughly clean hair and debris from the bristles, end caps, and bearing surfaces. Lubricate lightly with a dry PTFE spray if allowed by the manufacturer (avoid oil that attracts dust).
- Inspect gearbox area: On the drive end, check for debris around the gear housing. If the gearbox cover is removable, open it carefully and clean out any dust or hair. Do not lose small gears.
- Check brush motor shaft: With the brush roll removed, briefly power the nozzle and observe the motor shaft. If it struggles to start, makes grinding noises, or stops under light finger pressure, the motor is worn and the nozzle or motor module should be replaced.
- Replace nozzle if needed: If cleaning does not resolve E14, replace the motorized floor nozzle with a genuine Progress assembly.
