Possible Causes
Defective mode selector button, Broken trigger switch, Damaged UI flex cable, Faulty UI daughterboard
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Remove the battery before working on the handle or control area.
- Check for debris around buttons: Inspect the mode button and trigger area for stuck debris or sticky residue. Clean gently with a slightly damp cloth (battery removed) and dry thoroughly.
- Test button feel: Press the mode button repeatedly. If it feels mushy, stuck, or does not click, the switch may be mechanically damaged.
- Inspect internal UI cable: If accessible, open the handle and check the flex cable connecting the UI board to the main PCB for kinks, tears, or loose connectors.
- Replace UI board or handle assembly: Many Progress cordless vacuums integrate the UI into the handle. Replace the handle/UI assembly or the small UI PCB as a unit if the switch is defective.
