Possible Causes
Blocked pre-motor filter, Clogged cyclonic separator, Restricted exhaust HEPA filter, Failing motor cooling fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Remove the battery pack before cleaning filters or opening covers.
- Clean the pre-motor filter: Remove the dust bin from your Progress cordless vacuum. Take out the pre-motor filter (usually a foam or fabric filter). Tap it gently over a trash can to remove dust. If the manual allows, rinse with lukewarm water only, then let it dry completely (at least 24 hours) before reinstalling.
- Check the cyclonic separator: Inspect the internal cyclone assembly for packed dust. Disassemble according to the user manual and clean each cone and mesh screen with a soft brush.
- Inspect and clean the HEPA/exhaust filter: Access the rear or top exhaust filter housing. Remove the HEPA cartridge and tap gently to remove loose dust. Replace the filter if it is heavily discolored, damaged, or older than 12–18 months.
- Allow cooling time: If E3 appears, let the vacuum cool for at least 30 minutes with the battery removed before testing again.
- Check airflow: After cleaning, run the vacuum without accessories and feel for strong exhaust airflow. Weak airflow with clean filters suggests a failing motor cooling fan or partially blocked internal ducting, which requires professional service.
