Possible Causes

Blocked floor head or brush roll, Severely clogged cyclone assembly, Blocked extension tube or wand, Failing main suction motor drawing excessive current

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Turn the vacuum OFF and remove the battery pack before clearing any blockages.

  • Inspect the floor head: Remove the motorized brush head. Clear hair, threads, and debris wrapped around the brush roll and side bearings. Ensure the brush roll spins freely by hand.
  • Check the wand and air path: Detach the extension tube and look through it toward a light source. Remove any visible obstructions. Check the inlet at the dust bin and the neck of the floor head.
  • Clean the dust bin and cyclone: Empty the dust container. Remove the cyclone assembly and tap it gently over a bin to dislodge fine dust. Do not wash non‑washable cyclone parts; follow the Rowenta manual.
  • Clean filters: Remove the pre‑motor and post‑motor filters. Tap off loose dust and, if they are washable types, rinse with lukewarm water only. Allow them to dry completely (at least 24 hours) before refitting.
  • Test again: Reassemble the vacuum and test on low power first. If E2 still appears immediately with all airways clear, the main motor may be failing and drawing too much current.
  • When to seek service: Persistent E2 with no blockages indicates a motor or control board issue. Contact an authorized Rowenta service center for motor or PCB replacement.
