Possible Causes
Clogged pre‑motor foam filter, Blocked HEPA/post‑motor filter, Dust‑packed cyclone assembly, Operating without regular filter maintenance
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn OFF the vacuum and remove the battery before removing filters.
- Empty the dust bin: Remove and empty the dust container. Tap it gently to remove stuck dust.
- Clean pre‑motor filter: Remove the foam or fabric pre‑motor filter. Tap it over a bin to remove loose dust. If washable, rinse under lukewarm water until clear. Do not use detergents. Allow to dry completely (24 hours) before refitting.
- Clean HEPA/post‑motor filter: If your Rowenta model has a HEPA cartridge, tap it gently to remove dust. Only wash if the manual explicitly states it is washable. Never reinstall a damp HEPA filter.
- Check cyclone: Inspect the cyclone cone and mesh for fine dust buildup. Use a soft brush to clean the mesh screen.
- Reset indicator: Some models automatically clear the F1 warning after a few minutes of operation with clean filters; others may require holding a specific button (check your manual).
- Maintenance schedule: Clean filters at least once a month in normal use, more often in dusty environments.
