Intermittent Electrical Connection in Wand
Vacuum intermittently cuts out when the wand is moved or twisted
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Broken wire inside extension wand, Loose wand connectors, Worn contacts between wand and floorhead, Cracked wand housing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off and remove the battery.
Check the wand:
- Detach the wand and inspect both ends for bent or dirty electrical contacts. Clean gently with a dry cloth.
- Reconnect the wand firmly to the main body and floorhead.
- With the vacuum running (battery installed), gently flex the wand in different directions (do this carefully). If the vacuum cuts out when the wand is moved, the internal wiring is likely broken.
- Replace the extension wand assembly; internal wiring is not usually repairable.
Warning: Do not tape or glue a cracked wand as a permanent fix; this does not restore electrical integrity.
