Possible Causes
Clogged cyclonic assembly, Severely blocked filters, Hair and debris wrapped around motor fan, Failing motor bearings causing drag
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Remove the battery and allow the unit to cool before touching the motor area.
- Clear all blockages: Detach the dust bin, wand, and floor nozzle. Remove any visible clogs in the air path.
- Deep-clean filters: Remove pre-motor and HEPA/post-motor filters. Tap out dust and, if washable, rinse with cold water. Let them dry completely (24 hours) before reinstalling.
- Inspect motor intake: With the dust bin removed, look into the motor intake for hair or fibers wrapped around the fan. Carefully remove with tweezers if accessible.
- Check for rough motor sound: After reassembly, run the vacuum briefly. Grinding or squealing noises suggest failing bearings, which will cause overheating.
If the overheat warning persists after thorough cleaning and cooling, the motor assembly should be replaced by a technician.
